Average cost for one in vitro fertilization (IVF)

The average cost for ONE in vitro fertilization (IVF) CYCLE is $12,000. Basic IVF can be as much as $15,000 or may be as low as $10,000. It’s rarely lower than that. These numbers do not include the cost of medications, which may be as low as $1,500 or as high as $3,000 per cycle.  See Below

IVF average costs do not include medications, additional procedures, egg freezing costs, and multiple consultations. Essentially, one attempt at an IVF could equal a total of $20,000.   The cost of medications typically range from $5,000 – $7,000, though deals can be found by purchasing medication abroad.

As you can see prices on IVF range greatly from as little as $4,700 to around $20,000. The national average is around $12,000. It includes everything you “need,” to do an IVF cycle but it doesn’t include many important components on an IVF procedure like medications that an overwhelming majority of patients will encounter.

The Total Cost to Bring Home a Baby with IVF: The cost to bring home a baby could indeed be as low as a one cycle total if that cycle is successful, though it’s safer to plan for an average that accounts for two IVF retrievals and a few FETs (the average couple undergoing IVF in the US undergoes two IVF cycles). The national average is in the range of $40,000-50,000. It is not uncommon to encounter those who have spent over $100,000 on treatment.
